First Watch: Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What exactly does First Watch mean anyway?

A: Since the majority of our customers are not sailors, pirates or sea-farin’ scallywags, we seem to get this question a lot. A “first watch” is a nautical term that refers to the very first shift of the day. And if you ask us, it’s the best shift of the day. That’s because come the crack of dawn, we’re slicing and juicing fresh fruit and vegetables and whipping up our French toast batter from scratch, just for you.

Q: What are First Watch’s hours of operation?

A: First Watch serves delicious, made-to-order Breakfast, Brunch and Lunch from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily. We are closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

Q: Where do I buy gift cards?

A: You can buy First Watch gift cards in any of our restaurants, some grocery or retailers as well as right here on our website!

Q: What do I do if my gift card is lost or stolen?

A: Unfortunately, gift cards are treated like cash, and we cannot replace them for you.

Q: I have these things called Bonus Bucks. What are they and when can I use them?

A: Sometimes, we offer special gift card promotions, where you can earn Bonus Bucks for making a gift card purchase. Each of these Bonus Bucks will have a redemption period printed directly on it. They will not be valid before or after the printed redemption period.

Q: I’m a member of your Sun eClub, and I never received my birthday coupon. What gives?

A: Oh no! Sometimes, our coupons may get redirected to your Junk or Spam folder. You should have received the coupon two weeks before your birthday, so search for it around that date. If you still can’t find it, please fill out the form on our Contact Us page, and a First Watch team member will be in contact with you soon!

Q: Does First Watch cater?

A: The short answer is “no.” We don’t currently have the infrastructure to cater large events. However, we would recommend reaching out to your local First Watch general manager to talk about your specific needs.

Q: Does First Watch offer delivery?

A: In some cities, First Watch partners with third-party delivery services like UberEats. We are constantly expanding our delivery offerings, so check in with your local delivery platform!

Q: Does First Watch take reservations?

A: We’re so glad you asked. While we don’t take reservations in the traditional sense, we do offer technology at most of our restaurants that will allow you to check out wait times and get on our waitlist before you arrive at First Watch. Simply download the free First Watch app on your mobile device to get started.

Q: Can you please open a First Watch in my town?

A: We choose potential First Watch sites using a complex scientific formula that evaluates a dizzying number of very important factors. We’d explain it, but it’s very, very complicated. Have a suggestion for a great place for a new First Watch? Tell us about it, and we’ll consult our experts.

Q: Where can I buy your awesome flooring or other décor that I saw in your restaurant?

A: Hey, we’re glad you dig our decor! But sorry, it’s not for sale. Our décor is custom-made for First Watch and not available for retail sale. Our flooring is a vinyl plank product from Karndean.

Q: My organization is looking for sponsors or monetary / food / auction donations for our upcoming event. Will First Watch donate?

A: First Watch is very involved in all of the communities where we operate, and we’re proud of it! Got a cause you’d like to share with us? Fill out the form on our Contact Us page.

Q: Does First Watch offer any vegan / vegetarian / gluten-free entrees?

A: We sure do – here’s the skinny! For our friends with dietary restrictions, our “Healthier Side” menu features a variety of delicious options, including egg white omelets, our AM Superfoods Bowl and our signature Avocado Toast. Check out any of our menu items on our website to view all ingredients in each dish or all in one place here.

Q: I have some pretty severe allergies. Does First Watch offer anything I can eat?

A: Lucky for you, our awesome culinary partners have analyzed all our menu items for the top 8 most common food allergens (milk, eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat and soybeans). Please keep in mind that while certain menu items may not contain these ingredients, the risk for cross-contamination is always present. Check out our individual menu items in our menu section on our website for all allergen details or view it all in one place here. Be sure to always tell your server of any and all allergies we should know about.

Q: One of your dishes is like, my favorite thing in the world. Can I have the recipe?

A: We’re so glad you love it! While some of our recipes are proprietary, we’re happy to share that we’ve recently introduced our first ever cookbook which contains some of our favorite First Watch recipes from the past 35+ years, modified for the home cook! You can purchase the book at your local First Watch restaurant.

Q: I loved that seasonal menu item First Watch used to offer. Will you ever bring it back?

A: Maybe! Our culinary team is always experimenting with new dishes and following trends to bring you the latest and greatest brunch dishes. They monitor your feedback closely, and sometimes, our seasonal menu items make a comeback either in a later season, or as permanent fixtures on our menu.

Q: Where can I buy that awesome whole grain bread?

A: That tasty thick-cut whole grain bread is actually made exclusively for First Watch by a bakery in Ohio called Orlando Baking Company. Since you’ve been asking, we now offer this bread for sale by the loaf in all of our restaurants! If you give your local First Watch manager a heads up, he or she will be sure we have enough in stock for you to purchase.

Q: In addition to cage-free eggs, what other animal welfare policies are in place at First Watch?

A: The humane treatment of animals is very important to us.  We are always working with our suppliers to make improvements in our supply chain. Recently, we have been evaluating conditions relating to raising and processing of broiler chickens. Working with our suppliers, the broiler chicken supply chain changes that we have set as a goal to achieve by 2024 include the following:

  • Using broiler breeds approved by Global Animal Partnership (GAP) as having higher welfare outcomes;
  • Providing birds more space and stocking density in barns in accordance with GAP Standards;
  • Enhancing the birds’ living environments, including improved litter, lighting and enrichment, per GAP standards;
  • Ensuring birds are rendered unconscious using multi-step controlled atmospheric stunning.

Learn more about GAP Standards here (https://globalanimalpartnership.org/5-step-animal-welfare-rating-program/chicken-standards-application/).

We also intend to demonstrate compliance with the above standards by independent third party auditing.
